Why Your Body Feels “Off” Some Weeks — and What It’s Asking For

woman stretching because she feels "off" in her body. Gentle movement.

Digestion feels sluggish. Energy dips. You might feel puffy, more emotional, or just a little “off” in your body — even if nothing obvious has changed. And yes… I’m having one of those weeks myself.

Even when you’ve been doing this work for a long time (like I have), there are still seasons where the body needs a little more support. That doesn’t mean you did anything wrong. It simply means your body is communicating — and it’s worth listening.

Our bodies are constantly responding to what’s happening around us and within us. Stress, sleep, digestion, movement, and nourishment all feed into the nervous system. And the nervous system plays a powerful role in how hormones are produced, metabolized, and cleared.

When life feels busy, stressful, or demanding for too long, the body can spend more time in a heightened, “on guard” state. In that state, digestion slows. Hormone clearance becomes less efficient. Inflammation can creep up. Over time, symptoms start to feel louder.

This is why slowing down can be such a meaningful form of support.

Not slowing down as in “do nothing,” but slowing down enough to help the body feel safe again. When the nervous system shifts into a rest-and-digest state, digestion works more efficiently. Elimination improves. Hormone cascades have a better chance to unfold smoothly instead of feeling backed up or dysregulated.

A client recently shared with me that her digestion and elimination improved simply by waking up a little earlier – not to do more, but to give her nervous system the signal that she had plenty of time and didn’t need to rush out the door. These are the kinds of small shifts I’m talking about.

For me this week, that support looks like a few intentional choices:

  • Going a bit easier at the gym without skipping movement altogether
  • Choosing slower, gentler yoga over more intense classes
  • Prioritizing sleep and getting to bed earlier than usual
  • Eating warm, nutrient-dense meals without rushing
  • Adding in an extra meditation or gentle body awareness practice

These aren’t flashy solutions – but they’re powerful. They create the internal environment the body needs to do what it’s designed to do.

If your body has been feeling “off” lately, it may just be asking for support, softness, and space to regulate.

P.S. If you’re feeling unsure where to start, I offer free discovery calls. It’s simply a conversation to help you decide what support might make sense for you.
