So many clients come to me feeling frustrated because they have been told that “everything looks normal” on their blood labs – but they still feel “off” in their bodies! They are understandably tired of being brushed off when they just want to feel like themselves again.
Normal vs. Optimal: What Lab Ranges Really Mean
Unfortunately just because your numbers fall within in the standard lab reference ranges doesn’t necessarily mean they are optimal. These ranges are based on averages over large groups of people – including those who aren’t feeling well. When you want to feel optimal, we are often looking to be in a more narrow band, not where everyone else is. This is often why symptoms persist even when labs look “fine”.
Additionally, many doctors will not run truly comprehensive blood panels that include all of your thyroid markers, iron markers, and key micronutrients. When we look at this full picture, I can help you see patterns – where you might dig deeper or I can identify additional questions to ask you so we can better understand how your symptoms relate. This is where the nuance comes in.
Our traditional health care is really more geared towards sick care. But many women want to feel optimal. This is why I do what I do. I love digging into the numbers and helping you understand what your next best steps are to feeling good again.
Always Start with the Foundations
No matter what your labs show, we always start with some key foundations first. Are you eating a nutrient dense diet that works for your body? Are you getting enough sleep and movement that fits your current stage of life? We look at all of this (and more) during your intake session so I can understand the full picture.
I often tell clients that I look at each person as a unique puzzle. Every piece – labs, symptoms, history, lifestyle – helps clarify what might be missing and what’s been keeping you stuck.
If you’re feeling stuck, you don’t have to navigate this alone. I’ve been where you are and understand how frustrating it can be. With the right support and clarity, it’s absolutely possible to find your energy again.
