Hello there. I’m Jamie and I’m passionate about wholesome, healthy foods and living an active lifestyle. I’ve always loved cooking and feel that healthy food should be fun and also accessible to everyone. I’m lactose intolerant, so the majority of what I cook is dairy free. I also tend to focus on “clean” eating, meaning that I avoid highly processed, refined sugar foods with long ingredient lists. I try to cook most of my own food and use food incorporating lots of fruits, veggies, and whole grains. I like to convert “comfort food” meals into healthier options.
What’s with the name “Daily Bag of Goodness” you ask? When my husband and I were converting to a cleaner lifestyle, we did a cleanse and for 21 days. During that time, I prepared everything we ate. For our lunches, each evening I created our lunch bags. My husband started lovingly referring to it as his “Daily Bag of Goodness”…hence the name.
My mom taught me to cook and I love her for that. I cant think of a more useful life skill to master. But, much of what she cooked was comfort foods with lots of dairy and red meat. When my grandpa passed away a couple years ago, I prepared a number of single serving meals for my grandma since he was the household chef. I took a couple of comfort food meals and made them healthy – and she loved them. Watching me cook for her, my mom started asking questions on how she could make certain meals more healthy. This made me want to find a forum to share healthy meals and capture my recipes. So, here I am. I hope you enjoy and provide me feedback.
Other than food, I am also very passionate about being active. I’m an avid cyclist (road and mountain bike). I also love hiking, running, yoga, scuba diving, gardening…really most outdoor activities. I have a toddler and he also loves being outside with me. We started hiking and biking with him when he was only 4 months old. Being a mom, I strive to provide healthy nourishing meals for my son, so this blog is also for him!
